Site 2 - Tent Camping in the majestic trees
The site was nice and well maintained. There was a fire pit and a small table. I use a hammock and the site worked well for hammock camping (site 1 also looked like it will work for a hammock). It is a steep hill going up to the site. It would be a bit of a walk if you had to carry a lot of gear and food up. I was able to get up the hill on my motorcycle (I have an adventure bike, I wouldn't try it on a cruiser), but coming down the hill the next morning after a steady rain was a bit hairy. My preference for camping is to be completely away from civilization, but this location provides a good backup option compared to some parks where there are a lot of sites in close proximity.

When we got there, she explained us how to get in there and explained us what was around to do! The river was so nice and the views… we really enjoyed it and recommend it

a great camping/farm experience!
What a great little hidden gem in Virginia. Site 1 and 2 absolutely require a 4wd vehicle to park at the sites as is mentioned. Otherwise get ready for a short but intense leg workout to hike up from the road below. You don’t want to miss out checking out the Cowpasture River or the many sweet animals living at the farm. Caroline and husband were amazing hosts and incredibly gracious. My 17 yr old son and I had a great time and highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay here, the river was lovely and peaceful and campsite was nicely shaded in the trees. One thing to note is that when it says firewood is provided, that means you need to chop it yourself from any wood/branches you find laying on the ground. Douthat state park is located nearby and is pretty to visit!

The Gypsy Rose
This place is absolutely amazing. the property is stunning. our directions did route us to the neighbors driveway so make sure you're pulling into the driveway that says Lazy farm. the gypsy rose was surprisingly super comfortable. slept like a baby. they provided wood for the fire which was very kind. outhouse was clean and spacious. would recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful farm & hill-top campsite
We loved getting to see the farm animals and swim in the gorgeous and clear river on the property. We had a really special time meeting the friendly goats, dogs, horses, cats, and chickens. The swim spot was wonderfully calm and clear, I couldn't believe how blue and transparent the water was. The camp site felt private and spacious and we loved getting to watch the sunrise over the mountains.
I would strongly recommend this site for anyone with a 4wd, however without one we really struggled to get all of our coolers and gear up the hill. Where you park your car is at the bottom of a very steep dirt/gravel road that was a very strenuous trek for a few of us with knee issues and asthma. Similarly the driveway would be best used by a 4wd or a vehicle with high clearance. If you don't have a car that can make it up the hill, I'd recommend packing pretty light - you will not want to take any more trips then you need to :)
